As the only surviving member of the once-wealthy Mitchell family, Herbert Wynn meets a tragic end when he is discovered shot to death. Nurse Adams, who is growing tired of the mundane hospital routine, gets pulled into the investigation by the police while caring for Wynns elderly aunt Julia. In a playful nod to the famous detective agency, Adams is jokingly referred to as Miss Pinkerson as she delves into the mystery surrounding Wynns murder.
