Production I.G produced this OVA prequel, directed by Kazuya Murata, who has worked on popular series such as "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion." The series composition was done by Gen Urobuchi from Nitroplus. The story is a continuation of the original SF anime "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet," which aired on TV from April to June in 2013.The story takes place about half a year after Ledos farewell to his beloved mecha, Chamber. He has been living a new life aboard the fleet Gargantia, working as a member of the salvage team while also exploring the remnants of the lost ancient Earth civilization. His peaceful routine is interrupted when a girl named Reema from Kugels fleet, Ledos former superior, appears before him.The voice of the new character Reema is provided by Inori Minase, known for her role in the NHK drama series "Amachan."Overall, this OVA prequel delivers a compelling continuation to the original series, adding depth to the characters and exploring new plotlines. The animation quality remains top-notch, and the introduction of Reema brings an intriguing dynamic to the story.
