Maciej Berbeka achieves a remarkable feat by making the first winter ascent of Broad Peak in 1988, narrowly escaping death in the process. Andrzej Zawada, the leader of the expedition, celebrates the accomplishment as a great success. However, upon their return to Poland, it is revealed that Maciej had only reached the Rocky Summit, a point twenty-three meters lower than the true peak just an hour away.
